Phibsboro was buzzing last weekend as residents and visitors gathered for this year’s Buzzfest, a lively celebration of local creativity, sustainability, and community connection. The event featured a wide mix of music, workshops, talks, and family-friendly activities.
Our group was delighted to take part by hosting an information stall during the festival. Throughout the day, we had plenty of great conversations with visitors who stopped by to learn more about our work and ongoing projects. It was wonderful to meet so many interested and supportive people, and to see such enthusiasm for community initiatives.
This month we also hosted a film screening of the Ken Loach film, The Old Oak. Hosted in the lovely St. Laurence’s church in TU Dublin, followed by a thoughtful discussion with Suad Aldarra, author of ‘I don’t want to talk about home’, Muhammad Achour, community engagement activist and leader of Sanctuary in Nature and Heritage and Dr. Mamoun Mobayad, psychiatrist.
What stood out the most was how The Old Oak highlights the power of solidarity – even in difficult times – and the importance of creating spaces where people can come together, listen to each other and build connections across differences.
Stay tuned for more events coming in November!
